Borderlands Produce Rescue is a purveyor of food and has been for 25 years. Our mission is to help families eat nutritiously at an affordable cost and to bring everyone together by shopping at our markets, keeping this unsold fresh produce out of the landfill helping our environment, we all need to do our part to help save our planet!
Although many of our host sites have elected to not host during COVID-19 Pandemic other host sites have come together realizing that as long as Borderlands continues to be able to supply this fresh produce, they will host their site in furtherance of their community outreach. The two things we do know about this virus is that it is essential for everyone to eat nutritious fruits & veggies helping the immune system and we need sunshine and fresh air; our markets supply both.
We have implemented some policies to be in conformity with suggestions from CDC and others; 3-5 feet separation between supporters, more lines so that supporters can receive their product rapidly, volunteers pre-packing boxes so that supporters do not wait in line for long periods, we will also not be registering new supporters or asking for the ID card, this will also help the lines move faster. We are requesting that you bring exact monetary value $12, so that volunteers don’t have to handle monies as frequently, just place it in the jar and we will be inviting seniors and disabled to the front of the line.
There are a multitude of ways to preserve fruits and veggies, remember the majority can be preserved.
We want to continue this program, we work without any government monies, P.O.W.W.O.W. is our main source of income and it barely covers our bills. We need your donations in order to keep this program running. We have over 100,000 registered supporters, if every one of those gave $5, we could continue to service Arizona and what better way than to live in service!
Please help us help you!
