Borderlands Food Bank, a 501 ( c ) 3 agency, is located in Nogales, Arizona. Our focus is to provide fresh, nutritious produce to people in need, advocate for the hungry, and help eradicate malnutrition and hunger. In Santa Cruz County, more than 4000 households (approx. 16,000 individuals) are registered to receive our produce.
Borderlands distributes between 25 to 40 million pounds of produce per year – more than 39 different varieties of vegetables and fruit. Produce is first distributed in Santa Cruz County, then throughout Arizona, and finally around the U.S. Because there is such an abundance of produce, we are able to share it with our sister city Nogales, Mexico, for distribution to those in need.
The mission of Borderlands Food Bank is “ to help wipe out malnutrition and improve the quality of health for families and individuals through our food distribution programs in Arizona, our Sister City Nogales, Mexico, as well as other areas throughout the U.S.A. ”
Borderlands services communities throughout Arizona region including: Flagstaff, Tucson, Phoenix, Wilcox, Benson, Casa Grande, and San Luis.
Last year Borderlands transported 39 million pounds of food over more than 218,600 miles to bring nutritious food to those in need.
